Nik Tucker resigns from WHU supporters board

West Ham's controversial official supporters' board has lost one of its members - Nik Tucker, the away fans rep, has resigned by mutual consent following accusations of antisemitism, homophobia and racism

West Ham statement: “West Ham can confirm that following some of the content on his website being brought to the club's attention by Kick it Out, it was felt by both parties that it was no longer appropriate for Nik Tucker to hold a position on the Official Supporters’ Board..."

Kick It Out statement: “We welcome the fact that within a few hours of receiving the complaints West Ham took swift action and acknowledged that homophobia and antisemitism has no place in football.”

Steinberg sort of has a point but I think he overeggs it. The memes were dumb, but not really offensive enough for a public shaming. He would have been better off having a quiet word with Tucker and asked him to take them down.

I always go with the underdog, but I haven’t liked the way that Steinberg has gone about his business. He has come across as smug, arrogant and condescending, which is never a good stance to take.

Steinberg seems to have switched his Twitter page to private, as well as deleting his Facebook page.

I guess there is far more to come as he has now gone very quiet and into bunker mode, which seems to be very unusual for him.

In fairness, Lampard and Harding were rich white men so I don’t think anyone at The Guardian will have a problem with him wishing them death and suffering.
